Kootenay Driving Academy Policies & Course Contract Agreement 

PARENTAL APPROVAL Kootenay Driving Academy requires parent/guardian approval if the Student Driver is under the age of majority and if the payee is a Parent/ Guardian

Conditions: I hereby give my consent for my child to take Driver’s training with Kootenay Driving Academy.

I understand that the Driving Instructors have Special Training and hold a valid British Columbia Driving Instructor License required by Law. I also understand the vehicles are equipped with Dual Brake System as required by Law. I understand and agree that my child is using the Driving Instructor's vehicle during all driving lessons.

IN-CAR DRIVING POLICY

1. All Driving lessons are One-on-One Driver Training 100% private, this means only the Driving Instructor and Student Driver are in the vehicle (Unless the parent/guardian is permitted by the Instructor).

2. Driving lessons must be pre-scheduled and pre-paid.

3. Student drivers must have a valid British Columbia Class 7 Learners or Class 7 Novice license before starting In-Car Driving Lessons.

4. Driving lessons Pick-up & Drop Off will be from the predetermined location the student indicated at the time of booking and ONLY within the Corporate limits of the City of Cranbrook, BC (Excluding Shadow Mountain and residences off of Hwy 95A west of Theatre Rd, Gold Creek/Hidden Valley, and residences south of the Jim Smith Lake Road turnoff),  Lessons start when the student enters the vehicle and ends upon exit at the drop-off point designated prior to the lesson. Students deemed to be impaired in any manner will be refused Instruction and charged the entire fee for the lesson.

5. In-Car lesson packages are paid in advance (including gifts) and must start within 6 months from the time of purchase and must be completed within 365 days, otherwise no refunds. All lesson packages are non-transferable, and lesson packages cannot be split between students (One Student per package)

6. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND starting your driving lessons 4-6 months prior to your Class 7 Road Test eligibility (this is to make sure you complete all driving lessons prior to your road test) Booking a Class 7 Road test can take up to 60 days but booking can be done 90-180 days in advance. (All Students must notify their In-Car Instructor once they have booked their Road Test)

*All lessons are 90 minutes in duration with a minimum of 70 minutes of practical Driver Training and each lesson cost (Not Including GST) is:

- $150/lesson for Single Assessment.

- $145/lesson for 3 Lesson Package.

- $140/lesson for 5 Lesson Package. 

- $135/lesson for 7 Lesson Package.

- $130/lesson for 9 Lesson Package.

**Rental of the KDA training vehicle for the ICBC road test is available only with instructor approval and the full lesson package being completed. Rental cost is $150 plus GST.  Please note: Availability of the training vehicle is not guaranteed for road tests. If the student has provided significant notice (4 weeks minimum) to the instructor of the road test date and time, then KDA will attempt to make the training vehicle available for the road test. (Road tests MUST be in Cranbrook for use of the instruction vehicle.) It is recommended that students test in the vehicle they have had the most practice in.

**Use of the KDA training vehicle for the ICBC road test is NOT available for Driving Assessment Students**

IN-CAR CANCELLATIONS.

Cancellation Policy: If you wish to cancel a driving lesson, we require 2 Business Days notice otherwise a cancellation fee of the amount of the lesson will be charged.  Please email kootenaydriving@gmail.com to cancel. (Be sure to provide the date/time of the appointment being canceled as well as the name of the student to insure that the cancellation is correctly made). Cancellations made before the 2 required business days will be refunded and charged a 15% processing fee for each lesson cancelled plus recuperation of special reduced prices per package (Calculated based upon package booked and how many lessons were refunded.)  

Late Policy: 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of any lesson (if the client has not shown up) the instructor may consider the lesson forfeited unless prior arrangements have been made. If a lesson is deemed forfeit a cancellation fee of the entire amount of the lesson will be charged.

**Please be considerate and mindful that the driving instructor’s scheduled time is valuable, like any other profession.**

NOTE: Lessons with Kootenay Driving Academy DO NOT guarantee a passing score on the ICBC road test. Only proper driving performance can do that. All examinees are accountable for their individual performance on test day.

If you need to cancel a road test, please give ICBC 72 hours notice so you can have enough time to avoid ICBC's 48-hour cancellation deadline. Otherwise, ICBC may charge you a $25 cancellation fee.
